Description:
Tussocks somewhat irregular, to 90 cm across, not usually forming rings; leaf blades glabrous or subglabrous, sometimes with a few short hairs especially along the margins, long hairs at the orifice, sometimes resinous, 10-16 cm long; the sheaths glabrous or subglabrous, resinous often abundantly so.
Panicle 10-30 cm long, narrow with erect branches at least when dried and with few spikelets, the lower branchlets to 4 cm long; spikelets 5-8-flowered, linear-oblong to ovate, 10-15 mm long, mostly on long slender pedicels; glumes glabrous, subscarious or indurate, 5-10 mm long, 5-7-nerved; lemma 3-5 mm long, 3-nerved distally, 3-lobed for up to one-third of their length, the lobes tapering to subulate tips, subglabrous except for long hairs towards the base or partly hairy on the medium line, margins and the lobes.
