Common name: Hairy rice-grass.
Description:
Perennial, with decumbent pubescent stems, sometimes matforming; culms to 60 cm high; leaves usually distichous, flat or involute, with a paler upper surface, blades to 6 cm but often less than 3 cm long.
Raceme erect, usually less than 2 cm long; spikelets usually fewer than 10, less than 6 mm long, usually pubescent; glumes c. 1 mm long; sterile lemmas obtuse or truncate, mucronate; the first sterile lemma about half as long as the second; the second sterile lemma similar to the fertile lemma.

Biology:
The only fertile specimens from S.Aust. has rather long pedicels (c. 5 mm) and a larger difference in size between the second sterile lemma and the fertile lemma than in specimens seen from Vic.
