Common name: Hooked cudweed.

Description:
Annual herb to 10 cm high; stems prostrate to ascending, sparsely branched, to 15 cm long, more or less cobwebby; leaf blades orbicular to broadly obovate, often apiculate, 5-15 mm long, green and cobwebby above, whitish tomentose below; petioles 9-24 mm long, cobwebby and dilated at the base.

Capitula 10-25 in terminal clusters, 3-4 mm long; involucral bracts c. 5-seriate, yellowish-stramineous; outer bracts ovate, to 1 mm long, cobwebby; inner bracts successively longer, glabrous, produced into rigid awns hooked at the apex; florets 5 or 6, c. 2 mm long.

Achenes cylindrical to ellipsoid, c. 0.7 mm long.

Distribution:  Occurs in mallee and woodland.

S.Aust.: LE, FR, EA, EP.   Qld; N.S.W.; Vic.

Conservation status: native

Flowering time: Aug. — Oct.
