Description:
Stems to 80 cm high; nodes velutinous; sheaths tightly rolled, velutinous (to glabrous on very basal sheaths); ligule broadly obtuse to truncate, or lacerate, 0.2-1 mm long; auricles hirsute; blades to 40 cm long, 2-3 mm wide, velutinous.
Panicle to 15 cm long, sparse, contracted, 0.5-2 cm wide (excluding the awns); glumes slightly gaping, acurainate, pubescent; lower glume 9-12 mm long; upper glume 6.5-10 mm long; floret narrow-elliptic, 5-6.5 mm long (excluding the awn); lemma pale-brown, granular, with erect white hairs to the apex; coma 0.1-0.5 mm long, callus 1-2 mm long, straight and sharp, awn 3-4.5 cm long, twice-bent; column 1-2.5 cm long, pubescent.
