Description:
Stems to 60 cm high; nodes glabrous; sheaths tightly rolled, villous to glabrous; ligules obtuse or lacerate, 0.3-0.5 mm long (to 1 mm if continuous with the sheath margin); blades to 20 cm long, 0.3-0.5 mm diam. (rolled), hirsute.
Panicle sparse, to 25 cm long, usually contracted, 1.5-4 cm wide (excluding the awns); glumes slightly gaping, acurainate; lower glume 9.5-14 mm long; upper glume 8-11.5 mm long; floret elliptic, 3.8-6.5 mm long (excluding the awn); lemma pale-brown, granular (tuberculate at the apex), with sparse erect white hairs, sparser at the apex; coma obscure, to 1.5 mm long; callus 1.2-2.5 mm long, straight, sharp; awn 3.8-6cm long, falcate; column 6-10mm long, pubescent.
