Common name: Pepper-tree.
Description:
An evergreen aromatic tree to 10 m or more high, with drooping branchtlets; leaves of 3-17 linear-lanceolate sessile leaflets; leaflets usually alternate, 2-5 cm long.
Flowers white, in long bracteate drooping panicles; sepals about half as long as the petals; petals c. 2 mm long; styles short.
drupe depressed-globular, red, c. 3 mm diam., with a papery outer layer when dry.
