Description:
Plant to c. 10 cm high; leaves 2.5-5 cm long, uppermost pair sometimes partly embracing the ovary.
Ovary narrowly and acutely 2-ribbed, 4.5-9 mm long, convex to flat on top; petaloid staminodes 5-14 mm long, acute or acuminate.

Taxonomic notes:
S. T. Blake (1969) commented on the superficial similarity to Carpobrotus modestus rather than to S. praecox and Dr R. J. Chinnock suggests that, on the basis of observations he has made at Redcliff (EP region), this may represent a hybrid between C. rossii and S. praecox. Certainly identification is difficult and uncertain, and its status required further examination.
