Description:
Annual, 2-35 cm high; stems branching from the base, sparingly to more or less densely pilose at least on lower parts; early leaves subreniform-palmate, with 3-5 more or less blunt teeth, later leaves palmatisect or ternate, 5-20 mm wide, the median segment 3-dentate, the lateral more or less 2-fid with 3 or 4 blunt to subacute teeth to each lobe, more or less pubescent above and below; petioles 2-5 cm long.

Flowers 2-3 mm diam., leaf-opposed, subsessile, the lower ones sometimes shortly pedicellate with fruiting pedicels to 1.5 cm long; sepals 3 or 4, oblong to elliptic, concave, pilose on the back; petals 0-2, ovate- or elliptic-spathulate to linear-spathulate, 3-nerved; nectary slightly above the middle, with a triangular rounded lobe; stamens 3-6.

Carpels 6-20; achenes suborbicular to obovate, 1.5-2 mm long, compressed to almost lenticular with the lateral faces each bearing 7-25 prominent conical tubercles terminated by a recurved bristle; beak triangular, short, subacute to acute; torus glabrous.
