Citation: R. Br. ex Benth., Fl. Aust. 3:529 (1867).

Synonymy: P. squarrosa Benth., Fl. Aust. 3:529 (1867); P. eyrea F. Muell. var. major Benth., Fl. Aust. 3:529 (1867); P. rubelliflora (F. Muell.)Robinson var. major (Benth.) J. Black, Fl. S. Aust. 616 (1929).

Common name: Bowl daisy.

Description:
Aromatic perennial herb or undershrub to 45 cm high; stems erect, terete, glabrous to glandular-pubescent, woody at the base; leaves narrowly oblanceolate to linear, narrow at the base, acute, 1-4 cm long, 1-3.5 mm wide, all except the uppermost with distant spreading filiform teeth 1-7 mm long, glandular-pubescent to subglabrous.

Capitula 1-4 in loose cymes; peduncles to 4.5 cm long, leafy; involucres hemispherical; bracts 4-5-seriate, narrowly lanceolate, acuminate, 4-6 mm long, the outer ones glandular, the inner ones glabrous with filiform points; female florets numerous; corollas 3-toothed, pink-purple.

Achenes c. 1.2 mm long, sparsely pubescent, brown; pappus bristles 10-23, c. 3 mm long, microscopically barbellate; disk florets 20-28, subequal to female florets; corollas 5-toothed, purple; style hardly divided.

Distribution:  In woodland, scrub and dry creek beds.

Conservation status: native

Flowering time: most of the year.
