Common name: Native apricot, weeping pittosporum, native willow, poisonberry tree, apricot tree, berigan, butter-bush, meemeei.

Description:
Small tree up to 17 m tall; bark grey, flaky or deeply fissured; branches pendulous; leaves alternate, narrow-oblong to narrowly oblanceolate or elliptic-oblong, 25-125 x 2-20 mm, glabrescent.

Flowers axillary and pseudoterminal, solitary or up to 4 in a cyme; sepals imbricate, coherent at the base, spreading and prominently recurved, ovate, 1.5-3.5 x 1-2 mm, glabrous, more or less ciliate; petals yellow to white, narrow-oblong, spreading or reflexed at the apex, 7-12 x 2-3.5 mm, obtuse, coherent for two-thirds of their length; ovary 3-5.5 x 1-3 mm, glabrous.

Capsule ovoid to globose or cordate, obtuse to subacute, 2- or 3-valved, apiculate, 10-24 x 9.5-22 mm; outer surface smooth, dark-red or orange; inner surface yellow, 4 -24, red, irregular in shape.

Distribution:    widespread throughout all mainland States particularly in the drier areas. The typical variety is confined to coastal W.Aust.
