Common name: Pussy tail.
Description:
Perennial, c, 30 cm high, with narrow leaves bearded at the orifice of the sheath.
Spikelets numerous in a golden-brown rather dense ovate panicle 2-5 cm long, 1-2.5 cm broad; glumes 4-5 mm long, enclosing the small flowers, of which only the awns protrude; lemma villous on the nerves, c. 2 mm long; central awn 5-6 mm long.
