Description:
Tufted annual, usually 20-50 cm high, with erect or ascending stems; leaf blades glabrous, 3-10 cm long, to 3 mm broad, flat or loosely convolute.
Panicle often 10-15 cm long, spike-like, basally enclosed in the upper leaf sheath, final branches with 1-3 spikelets; spikelets 2.2-3 mm long, glabrous; first glume about two-thirds of the length of the spikelet, acute, 3-nerved; second glume 5-7-nerved, as long as the spikelet.
