Inflorescence of spikes forming a panicle, the spikes disarticulating from the main axis of the panicle; spikelets 1-flowered, solitary, sessile, abaxial; glumes 2, the first 3-5-nerved, the second as long as the spikelet, 9-1 1-nerved; first lemma equal to the second glume, lacking a palea, second (fertile) lemma membranous, becoming slightly hardened.
