Description:
Tall shrub to 5 m high; joints elliptic to round, olive-green, 10-40 cm long; spines 2-8, acicular, terete, 2-7 cm, long, dark-brown.
Flowers c. 5 cm across, deep-yellow striped red or pink.
Fruit subovoid, red, dark-red inside.
