Description:
Ascending subshrubs, glabrous; stems branched, 10-50 cm high; leaves lanceolate, 10-40 x 2-15 mm, flat or margins revolute, rather obtuse, obliquely attenuate into a conspicuous 5-10 mm long petiole, venation obscure; stipules deltoid-ovate to triangular, c. 1 mm long, yellow, with a scarious often fringed margin.

Flowers yellow, in capitate fascicles in the axils of the 2 last leaves, cymes sessile or shortly pedunculate; bracts at the base of the pedicels ovate, c. 0.5 mm long; male flowers 6-15; sepals 4, valvate, lanceolate, c. 2 mm long, with slightly thickened tips; petals orbicular-cordate, slightly shorter than the sepals, shortly clawed; stamens 8, filaments red, anther 2-celled, cells distinct; 4 small glands of the disc alternating with the petals; female flowers 1-4, among the males, calyx 4- or 5-merous; sepals ovate, c. 2.5 mm long, more or less acute, imbricate; petals absent; 4 minute glands terminating the ovary and capsule; styles free, thick, c. 2 mm long, papillose-fimbriate, yellow.

Capsule 3-lobed, c. 3.5 mm long, protruding; seeds globular, slightly compressed, c. 2.5 mm long, smooth, black to brown.
