Description:
Prostrate annual up to c. 50 cm diam.; leaves 40-70 X 7-12 mm.
Peduncles 4-8 mm in flower, enlarging in fruit; perianth lobes 3-8 mm long; petaloid staminodes 2-5 mm long.
Capsule c. 1.3 cm diam.

Taxonomic notes:
This species may be mistaken for the much showier Dorotheanthus bellidiformis, which has longer petaloid staminodes and is commonly grown in gardens.
