Description:
Spreading shrub to 1.5 m high and c. 2.5 m diam., glabrous except for the pubescent young shoots and hypanthium; leaves decussate, linear-lanceolate, 8-15 mm long, l-2 mm broad, acuminate-acute, obscurely 3-nerved and glandular below, sessile.
Flowers in lateral clusters of 2-5 on a very short axis, sub-tended by several scarious triangular bracts in 4 series; hypanthium cup-shaped, 2-2.5 mm long; sepals narrowly triangular, 1.5-2 mm long, with a scarious margin; stamens in bundles of 7-15, pale- to deep-pink; claw c. 6 mm long; free parts of filaments 3-4 mm long.
Fruit corky, fissured, 3-5 mm long, 4-5 mm diam., toothed at the rim by persistent sepals, in clusters on old wood.
