Description:
Annual to 125 cm; leaf blades to 24 cm x 10 mm, scabridulous particularly at the apex and margins above, glabrous to slightly scabridulous below.
Spike 5-35 cm; rhachis rigid and thickened, to 3 mm diam.; spikelets 8-28 x 3-8 mm, with 4-12 fertile and 0-2 rudimentary florets; glumes lanceolate, as long as or longer than the spikelet; lemma with an awn to 18 mm or awnless; mature caryopsis 4-6 mm long, being about 2 or 3 times as long as broad.
