Leptocarpus brownii

Citation: Hook. f., Fl. Tasm. 2:73 (1858).

Synonymy: Not Applicable

Common name: Coarse twine-rush.

Description:
Stems simple, 50 cm to 1 m high; the sheathing bracts 5-7 mm long, male spikelets 5-12 mm long, shortly pedicellate, few, in a short spreading reddish-brown particle; glumes acuminate; perianth-segments lanceolate.

Female spikelets of 3-6 flowers (but each flower looking like a 1-flowered spikelet), the spikelets clustered in a short compact golden-brown panicle or head, each flower with an acuminate glume and bracteole at the base; outer perianth-segments acuminate, glume-like, the inner smaller but thick.

Distribution:    N.S.W.; Vic.; Tas.

Conservation status: native

Flowering time: Flowers and/or fruits: in all months, mainly Sept. — Feb.
