Description:
Shrub 30-200 cm high, densely velvety-tomentose, the youngest parts ferruginous; upper leaves often undivided, oblong, blunt at the base and summit, faintly and distantly toothed, the blades 3-5 cm long and 8-12 mm broad, on petioles 7-15 mm long; the other leaves with a few broad obtuse lobes, the lowest lobes longer and spreading, or 3-foliolate.
Peduncles 14-55 mm long; epicalyx segments 8-10, free, linear, 5-8 mm long, conspicuously stellate-hairy; calyx 14-24 mm long, the tube shorter than the ovate-lanceolate acuminate densely hairy lobes; petals pink or purple, a darker reddish at the base, 23-42 mm long; staminal tube long, with relatively short filaments.
capsule subglobular, tomentose, 13-17 mm long; seeds angular, woolly.
