Description:
Annual herb 4-20 cm high; stems erect, branched, sparsely glandular-pubescent, brown; leaves opposite to alternate, linear, obtuse, to 2.5 cm long, to I mm wide, subterete, sometimes channelled above, very finely glandular-pubescent to glabrescent.
Capitula in loose leafy corymbs, on short peduncles not distinct from the stems; involucre campanulate, 4-7 mm long, c. 4-seriate, glabrous; outer bracts lanceolate, scarious, golden-brown, some with leaf laminae and grading into the surrounding leaves; inner bracts with truncate-lanceolate scarious stramineous claws and yellow ovate or lanceolate acute spreading laminae 2.5-4.5 mm long; receptacle conical; florets 10-18, sometimes a few sterile; corollas golden-yellow.
Fertile achenes narrow-obovoid, 1.5-2 mm long, sericeo-villous; pappus bristles 12-20, free, 3.5-4 mm long, evenly plumose from the base, persistent; sterile achenes pubescent, with fewer pappus bristles.
