Helichrysum semipapposum

Citation: Sect. Oxylepis Benth. (1867) FI. Aust. 3:614.

Synonymy: Gnaphalium semipapposum Labill., Nov. Holl. Pl. Sp. 2:42 (1806); H. semipapposum (Labill.) DC. var. brevifolium (Sonder)Maiden & Betche, Census N.S.W. Pl. 202 (1916); H. squarrulosum DC. var. brevifolium Sonder, Linnaea 25:515 (1852).

Common name: Clustered everlasting, yellow buttons.

Description:
Perennial herbs or undershrubs; leaves all alternate.

Capitula homogamous or heterogamous, when a few of the outer florets are female; involucre broadly campanulate, of dull-white, stramineous or golden-yellow scarious bracts; inner bracts with erect inconspicuous laminae; innermost bracts longest; florets equalling the involucre or exceeding and overhanging it; style branches truncate, papillose.

Distribution:  In a wide variety of situations, but nearly always in ranges of hills or mountains or on isolated rocky rises.
