Description:
Erect to 1 m high; base purplish; culms simple; leaves 6-15 mm broad; leaf bases loose.
Spikes up to 45, erect or somewhat spreading distally, 7-12 cm long; glumes hyaline, 1.5-2.5 mm long; lemmas brown when mature, thicker than the glumes, glabrous except for the marginal hairs on the first which is c. 3 mm long; the second subtruncate, c. 1.5 mm long.
