Dodonaea viscosa ssp. spatulata

Synonymy: D. spatulata Smith in Rees, Cyclop. 12 (1809); D. viscosa Jacq. var. spatulata (Smith)Benth., Fl. Aust. 1:476-477 (1863).

Common name: Sticky hop-bush. Erect to spreading shrub, 1.5-4 m high; leaves sessile or petiolate, lamina usually obovate, sometimes spathulate, rarely elliptic, broad-acute to obtuse, sometimes obtuse or rounded with a very short abrupt point, 2.5-7.5 x 0.6-1.6 cm, margin entire to irregularly sinuolate or irregularly denticulate; petiole 4-10mm long.

Distribution:  Occurs in various habitats usually in open forest or woodlands and mallee shrublands.

S.Aust.: NW, LE, FR, EP, NL, MU, YP, SL, KI, SE.   W.Aust.; Qld; N.S.W.; Vic.; Tas.

Biology: Not Applicable

Taxonomic notes: Subsp. spatulata exhibits a great amount of leaf morphological variation. In south-eastern S.Aust. (SE) this subspecies shows leaf characters intergrading with those of subsp. angustissima and subsp. cuneata.
