Description:
Dioecious erect shrub, 1-3 m high; leaves irregularly pinnatifid or irregularly 2-12-lobed in the apical two-thirds, entire in the basal one-third, rarely whole leaf entire, the lobes elliptic to linear-oblong and usually concave above, 1-1.5 x 0.5-1 mm, obtuse to rounded, sessile, lamina linear to linear-oblanceolate, obtuse, 1.5--4.5 x 0.05-0.2 cm, viscous, with raised glands, or rarely with flat glands, glabrous to puberulent.
Flowers 2 or 3 together, axillary; pedicels 3-6.5 mm long; sepals 3 or 4, ovate, 1.6-2.7 mm long, caducous; stamens 6-8; ovary glabrous.
Capsule 3- or rarely 4-winged, transverse-elliptic or broad-obovate in lateral view, 10.5-15 x 14-21 mm, glabrous, septifragally dehiscent, wings 4-7 mm broad, extending from the base to the apex of the capsule.

Grows on rocky hills and ridges in arid open woodland and shrubland associated with Eucalyptus flindersii, E. camaldulensis, Acacia notabilis, Eremophila spp., Triodia irritans, Maireana sedifolia and Atriplex vesicaria.

Biology:
D. lobulata is often grazed by goats, e.g. in the Hinders Ranges.
Taxonomic notes:
One collection from the Birksgate Range is the only record of this species north of Maralinga in the western part of the State (NW).
