Description:
Stout or slender glabrous grass, 50-100 cm high; leaves narrow; ligule 2-5 mm long, obtuse.
Panicle narrow but lobed towards the base, 8-18 cm long; glumes 4.5-5 mm long; lemma slightly shorter, acute, shortly 4-toothed, 4-nerved towards the summit and with a fifth nerve descending from the base of the awn, scabrous on the nerves and tuberculate in the upper part or all over; awn 5-6 mm long, attached a little above the middle and shortly exserted; tuft short; bristle hairy, about one-third as long as the lemma.
