Citation: F. Muell., Trans. Phil. Soc. Vic. 1:7 (1855).

Synonymy: Bredemeyera polygaloides (F. Muell.)Chodat ex Ewart, Census Vic. Pl. 40 (1923).

Common name: Small milkwort.

Description:
Subshrub similar in habit to C. calymega, 100-200 mm tall rarely to 350 mm tall, leaves subsessile, narrowly oblong to oblong or obovate, 5-15 rarely 17 mm long, 1-3 mm wide, glaucous, midrib conspicuous below; racemes 20-70 mm long, to 100 mm in fruit.

Pedicel of mature flower c. 2.5 mm; outer sepals much shorter than the wings, c. 2 mm long, the 2 anterior united almost to the summit; wings c. 6 mm long, obovate, purple-mauve and green; keel about as long, with 2 lateral lobes; posterior petals obtuse, oblong; stamens diadelphous in 2 groups of 4; anthers almost sessile on the keel; style bifurcate.

C apsule 7-8.5 mm long, 2-2.5 mm wide; seed c. 3 mm long, c. 0.8 mm wide, hirsute, comose.

Distribution:  S.Aust.: EP, MU, SL, KI, SE.   W.Aust.; Vic.

Conservation status: native

Flowering time: Oct. — March.
