Common name: Slender celery.

Description:
Slender glabrous annual, 30-70 cm high; leaves oblongovate in outline, 2.5-4 (rarely to 10)cm long, 3 or 4 times pinnately or ternately dissected, divided into numerous almost filiform segments 0.5-1 mm broad; lower leaves petiolate, upper sessile.

Umbels compound, mostly sessile or short-pedunculate, with 2-5 slender rays; involucre and involucel absent; umbellules many-flowered; pedicels slender, 2-8 mm long; calyx inconspicuous.

Fruit ovoid, 1.2-3 mm long, 1.5-2 mm broad, glabrous; carpophore shortly bifid; vittae minute.

Distribution:  A garden and roadside weed, on waste places.

  W.Aust.; N.T.; Qld; N.S.W.; Vic.   A native of America; widespread in the tropics of both hemispheres.

Conservation status: naturalised

Flowering time: Oct. — March.
