Carpobrotus rossii

Synonymy: Mesembryanthemum rossii Haw., Rev. Pl. Succ. 120 (1821); C. aequilaterus sensu J. Black, Fl. S. Aust. 338 (1948), partly.
Common name: Karkalla, Ross's noon-flower, angular pigface.
Description:
Stems to 1 m or more long, 3-11 mm thick; leaves glaucous, often slightly thicker than wide, mostly 3.5-10 cm long, 6-11 mm wide.
Flowers 3.5-5.5 cm diam.; peduncles c. 5-28 mm long; ovary turbinate or oblong-turbinate; perianth lobes 4 or 5, to 2.5 cm long; petaloid staminodes usually 60-160, light-purple, white at base, streaked only close to the mid-line when dry; stamens 100-250; styles 6-10.
Fruit purplish to red, turbinate in front view, globose-ellipsoid in side view, 1.6-2.2 cm long; seeds 1.1-1.4 mm long.
