Citation: Miller, Gard. Dict. edn 4 (1754).

Derivation: From kakeleh, the Arabic name for the genus.

Synonymy: Not Applicable

Common name: Sea-rockets.

Description:
Annual rarely perennial succulent herbs, glaucous, glabrous.

Sepals erect, dimorphic; petals clawed; stamens 6; median glands present.

Silicula corky, indehiscent, mid-vein distinct, differentiated into 2 1-seeded segments; seeds dimorphic; radicle accumbent.

Distribution:  7 species of marine and lacustrine distribution, native of the Northern Hemisphere, now cosmopolitan; 2 species established in Australia. (Rodman (1971) Contr. Gray Herb. 205:3-146.)
