Description:
Low shrub; leaves scattered or clustered, obovate to lanceolate, 6-18 x 3-6 mm, glabrous, mid-vein prominent below; spines numerous, slender, 6-10 mm long; stems and panicle densely puberulent to glabrous.

Sepals less than 0.5 mm long, present at anthesis.

Distribution:    Qld (far eastern section); N.S.W.; Vic. (southern section).

Flowering time: Sept. — Jan.

Biology: Generally the leaves become coriaceous towards the coast and southwards. The variety differs from all other varieties in having obovate leaves.
