Description:
Annual herb to 12 cm high; stems branched, erect to ascending, short, reddish, sparsely pubescent: basal leaves oblanceolate, narrowed at the base, entire to pinnatipartite 3-18 mm long, very sparsely pubescent, soon withering; cauline leaves obovate to ovate, amplexicaul at the base, pinnatisect, 3-9 mm long, pubescent; peduncles 4-8 cm long, leafless, glabrous, passing into leafy stems; receptacle hemispherical, 2-2.5 mm diam.; involucral bracts 9-15, obovate to oblanceolate, obtuse, 2.3-3.2 mm long, glabrous, with minutely erose often purple apices: ray florets 15-24; ligules linear, 4-5 mm long, white to lilac; anthers without terminal appendages.
Achenes cuneate, hardly flattened, 1.5-1.7 mm long, glabrous except for a few minute hairs near the apex; margins narrow, wingless, smooth, greenish; faces crowded with large ochre tubercles; pappus c. 0.4 mm long, white, of unequal connate bristles.
