Description:
Annual herb to 25 cm high; stems robust, branched, erect, glabrous; leaves basal and near-basal, not forming a rosette, pinnatisect with 3-7 linear obtuse segments, or the lower ones entire and linear, 3-6 cm long, glabrous.
Peduncles unbranched, robust, glabrous, leafless, passing into the leafy stems, 3-14 cm long; receptacle conical, c. 2 mm diam.; involucral bracts 8-12, obovate, obtuse to subacute, 2-4 mm long, green, glabrous, with entire pallid scarious margins; ray florets 8-14; ligules narrowly oblong, 5-8 mm long, bluish; anthers with terminal appendages.
Achenes broadly cuneate, c. 2 mm long, terete, strongly incurved, pale-brown; margins with narrow turgid wings, ciliate with glandular hairs to 1 mm long; faces smooth; pappus prominent, c. 0.8 mm long, of unequal bristles fused in bundles.

Biology:
One of the complex of species related to B. lineariloba, B. eriogona is closest to B. dichromosomatica and, in many characters, intermediate between this species and B. campylocarpa.
