Description:
Perennial herb to 20 cm high; rhizome absent; stem very short; leaves all radical, sessile, forming an ascending rosette, oblanceolate, subacute, attenuate at the base, entire to shallowly crenate or dentate distally, to 10 cm long, to 2 cm wide, glabrous.
Peduncles radical, unbranched, scapelike, 8-20 cm long, naked or with a single minute bract, glabrous; receptacle convex, 5-7 mm diam.; involucral bracts 20-25, oblong to narrowly obovate, obtuse, 3-6.5 mm long, glabrous, entire, often with purplish margins; ray florets 30-40; ligules oblanceolate, 5-8 mm long, pale-blue; anthers with terminal appendages.
Achenes obovate, flattened, somewhat curved, c. 3 mm long, brown; margins narrow, entire, thickened, glabrous; faces with scattered 2-fid hairs; pappus minute, with free subequal bristles.
