Description:
Annual 12-40 cm high; stems ascending, branched, herbaceous, glabrous; radical leaves pinnatisect or entire, soon withering; cauline leaves sessile, pinnatisect or bipinnatisect with linear segments, broad and somewhat sheathing at the base, to 11 cm long, glabrous or with a few hairs near the base.
Peduncles robust, 3-12 cm long, with 1 or 2 reduced leaves, glabrous, passing into the leafy stems; receptacle hemispherical, 4-6 mm diam.; involucral bracts 14-16, obovate to broadly elliptical, 3-5 mm long, green, glabrous, with obtuse entire apices; ray florets 12-24; ligules linear, 8-10 mm long, white; anthers with terminal appendages.
Achenes curieate, curved, terete, 2-3 mm long, black; margins with thick wings, irregularly notched, ciliate; faces smooth, glabrous; pappus prominent, c. 1 mm long, of free unequal bristles.
