Description:
Perennial herb to 60 cm high, with an underground rhizome; stems sparsely branched, erect, rather weak, glabrous; leaves radical and cauline, sessile, narrowly lanceolate to linear, entire, narrowed at the base, acute, 3-9 cm long, 1-2.5 mm wide, glabrous, with a prominent mid-vein.
Peduncles filiform, c. 3-20 cm long, with 1 or 2 reduced leaves, passing into the leafy stems; receptacle convex, 2-2.5 mm diam.; involucral bracts 19-22, linear to narrowly obovate, 2.5-3.5 mm long, green, glabrous, with entire obtuse apices; ray florets 35-50; ligules oblanceolate, 4-8 mm long, white; anthers with terminal appendages.
Achenes narrowly cuneate, somewhat flattened, 1.5-2 mm long, glabrous, brown; margins smooth, broad, wingless; faces prominently tuberculate; pappus reduced to a microscopic rim, often papillose.
