Description:
Basedowia is here interpreted as a reduced relative of Haeckeria and Humea with compound heads derived from corymbose inflorescences. Pritzel (loc. cit.) considered the heads of this genus to be simple and heterogamous with bract-like receptacular scales between the florets.
Compound heads white, c. 2 mm diam., in subglobular clusters 6-9 mm diam.; bracts of the common involucre obovate, obtuse to apiculate, concave, 1.8-2.8 mm long, with white apices; capitular bracts similar, often slightly keeled, somewhat shorter; corollas slightly exserted.
Achenes ovoid, c. 0.3 mm long, brown.
