Description:
Shrub to 60 cm tall; leaves distant to crowded, appressed to spreading, linear to linear-lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate to spathulate, 3-8 mm long, 0.7-3 mm wide, slightly thickened, flat or slightly concave, glabrous or sparsely and very shortly pubescent.
Flowers solitary, 3-15 mm across; peduncles articulated, with a pair of connate cordate to rhomboid persistent bracteoles at the articulation; hypanthium broadly obconical; calyx-lobes rounded, margins ciliolate; petals white or pink to mauve-purple; stamens 3-10, 1 opposite each petal and sepal when 10; filaments straight; anthers opening in parallel slits, anther gland prominent; ovary 3-celled, with 3 or 4 ovules per cell, lower three-quarters fused to the hypanthium.
