Common name: Wild oat.
Description:
Annual, to 1.5 m high, with flat glabrous or scabrid leaves and a loose pyramidal panicle 15-45 cm long.
Spikelets 25-30 mm long, very open, drooping from long filiform pedicels, with 2 or 3 florets, the 2 lower ones awned; rhachilla not articulated between the florets; lemmas ovate, the first two-thirds clothed with long silky hairs.
