Abutilon oxycarpum var. incanum
Citation:
Medik., Malv. 28 (1787).
Synonymy: A. avicennae Gaertner, Fruct. 2:251 (1791).
Common name: Swamp Chinese-lantern, Chingma lantern.
Description:
Stout erect annual usually 30 cm-1 m high, with soft stellate pubescent; leaves velvety-pubescent on both surfaces, broadly and shallowly crenate or almost entire, cordate, orbicular or broad-ovate, acuminate, 2-10 cm long.
Peduncles shorter than the petioles, becoming rather stout in fruit and 2-4 cm long; calyx 6-10 mm long, with broad lobes exceeding the tube; corolla yellow, up to twice as long as the calyx.
Capsule much longer than the calyx, to nearly 2 cm diam., composed of 10-15 fruitlets each with 2 diverging awns c. 4 mm long and containing 2 or 3 dark smooth pubescent seeds.
