Common name: Angled pigface, Chilean pigface.
Description:
Stems to c. 2 m long, 2-10 mm thick; leaves dull-green to glaucous, about equilateral near the middle, margins and keel smooth or slightly crenulate towards the tip, 3.5-9 cm long, 5-12 mm wide.
Flowers c. 3.5-8 cm diam.; peduncles 5-40 mm long; ovary compressed-turbinate; perianth to c. 5 cm long, the larger more or less denticulate on the keel; petaloid staminodes 70-150, light-purple, sometimes pale towards the base, streaked when dry over most of the width; stamens usually 250-400; styles 7-11.
Fruit purple, obovoid to ellipsoid, 15-30 mm long; seeds 1-1.4 mm long.

Many records for S.Aust. have been based on misidentifications, usually of C. rossii, but a few probably reliable records do exist for the EP and SL regions.
N.S.W.; Vic.; Tas. Native to Chile; naturalised in North America and New Zealand.
